Crossing Guard (Multiple Openings)
Statement of Duties:
Crossing Guards ensure the safety of children and pedestrians by helping them cross streets at designated locations, especially near schools. They manage traffic flow, enforce safety rules, and serve as a vigilant, friendly presence in the community.

- Assist children and other pedestrians in safely crossing streets near schools or busy intersections.
- Monitor traffic flow and ensure safe crossing conditions by using hand signals and/or stop signs.
- Communicate clearly and assertively with drivers to stop vehicles when necessary.
- Arrive promptly at assigned locations before school start and dismissal times.
- Maintain a visible presence in uniform or safety gear (e.g., reflective vest, stop paddle).
- Stay alert to traffic and weather conditions to ensure the safety of all crossing individuals.
- Report unsafe behaviors, traffic violations, or suspicious activities to appropriate authorities.
- Follow all local traffic laws, school district policies, and safety procedures.
- Provide assistance or direction to students, parents, and community members when needed.
- Serve as a positive role model, promoting safety and courtesy within the community.
Schedule:
- Hours are 2 hours a day, 07:15am to 08:30am for the morning and 2:30pm to 3:15pm in the afternoon
- Wednesday--Half Day of School, schedule is 12:00pm-1:30pm.
Minimum Requirements:
- This is a safety-sensitive position. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Authorized to work in the U.S
Physical Abilities: Crossing guards must be able to stand for extended periods, move at a moderate pace, and bend or stoop.
Working Conditions: Crossing guards work outdoors, often in inclement weather.
Hours: 2 hours each school day / 10 hours weekly (not benefits eligible)

Salary: $24.60/per hour

- MA Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) clearance
